Comissioned by streaming platform VEEPS, Andrew was brought on to photograph the live taping of Jessi Cruickshank’s Minivan Money special. The taping occured over back-to-back performances on March 9th, 2024 inside The Opera House in Toronto.
“Despite having being in the industry for over a decade, I had never had the opportunity to properly shoot inside The Opera House (the was a concert years ago where I did sneak a camera in during soundcheck but that’s another story). Shooting inside a historic venue like The Opera House is a unique experience on its own, but it’s a completely different beast when you have the full production value of a streaming platform behind it. Add to the fact that it was the historic moment of an artist’s first special in a city that helped define them, it was definitely a moment that I truly cherish. Between weaving down the aisles and around cameras, making sure I’m not in the shot, nor the cameras on booms in mine (or taking me out in the process) there’s a lot of real time processing that needs to be done in order to ensure capturing an event like this goes on without a hitch.” - Andrew Palmer
